Many children DO judge books by their cover. Our students need developmentally appropriate literature they can relate to. We will choose one book each day to read together, and allow students to utilize these same books during their open exploration time. During the preschool year literacy is surrounded by learning nursery rhymes, reading stories children can relate to, and making connections with the world around us. Your generous donation will support students to become comfortable with looking at the illustrations of stories, and making real world connections increases their ability to become incredible beginning readers along with building confidence in themselves. By being able to expose them with a selection of quality literature to use, I will be able to support the children learn how to recognize letters and numbers, respect literature and books, recall and retell story elements, recognize the sounds of rhyming words, and many other beginning literacy skills.
