A classical education has cultivated many great thinkers of our world. I like to think my students are part of those great thinkers. Teaching at a classically driven school, my classroom enjoys the experiences of art, drama, music, and dance. All these fine arts combine with the core body of knowledge we learn, such as The Renaissance, the Golden Age of England, Westward Expansion and the Civil War, Classification of Living Things, and Cells. I strive to impart a love for knowledge and present inspirational subjects and people to my students. I am in need of providing a classroom library that is chalk-full of inspiring figures from history and topics that engage my eager learners, so my students are able to build and extend their own love of learning. As an extension to what I teach my students, a classroom library is essential for students to be given choices about what they want to learn more about. In particular, providing a range and books about history and science topics that relate to my curriculum gives my students an environment that reinforces what we are learning. I have a strong desire to provide for my students the best resources possible. As a public school, funds are usually used for essentials first, and books for pleasure tend to take a back seat. I spent hundreds of dollars of my own money my first years teaching provisioning a library for 2nd graders. When I changed classrooms and moved up to 5th grade, I had to start all over. My classroom library is very sparse and currently in sad condition. The cost of books, especially non-fiction, tends to be quite expensive. Choosing to donate to this cause will ensure that you are helping to fulfill young minds of future great thinkers!
