I have chosen materials to provide all 100 students that I see each day with enough supplies to meet their daily learning needs. 6th graders are constantly reading and analyzing texts, along with creating projects and other comprehension activities. We need a variety of materials for them to use when doing this. These supplies are the most important items for our students to have, but also the items we tend to run out of very quickly. When students do not have basic supplies, learning suffers. I want to make sure my students don't have to worry about supplies so that they can focus on the important part, learning! We use copy paper to print reading materials for students and for them to create products that demonstrate mastery of content. We need colored pencils, pens, pencils, and dry erase markers to use when breaking apart texts, finding key details, and many other important activities. With so many students coming in and out of one room all day, we go through many tissues and Clorox wipes too. The Erasers will allow us to save our tissues and prolong the life of our markers. Our previous pencil sharpener is barely functional now, so we really need a new one to keep 100 pencils per day sharp! When our students cannot provide these materials for themselves, or when we run out of what we have, it's hard to work without these supplies. It would be a tremendous help to have enough supplies to alleviate the burden of finding money and resources, and to just be able to focus on the students and their success.
