There are 54 students in two sessions of AP CS. They range from the brightest to those just interested in being on a computer. They are all wonderful and all interested in doing the best they can. Labs are a challenge with so many but there are the better students that finish early and help out. Out of 54 students there are 10 females, 44 males, and four different ethnicity represented. It is nice to see the collaboration among the diversity of students. We have many aerospace corporations in the area with a huge need for computer science majors. One corporation has initiated a project for the local high schools involving mock crime scenes on their campus that the students must visit and create java code to help solve the crime. We have formed teams and are actively pursuing writing different applications that will run an a cell phone. It has helped boost the interest of the classes when they are applying their code to a real life situation and interfacing with engineers.
