We are a middle school in North Georgia. We are considered a Title I school which means that we are a high poverty school. 85 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our area is a large manufacturing area that was hit hard by the economic crash of 2008, and we have not recovered. Our school makes best with what we have, but we are definitely behind the times of the 21st century. Our school was built in the 70's and has had minor updating. There are only two computer labs in the school of which only one lab that is fully functional. We have recently started a Bring Your Own Technology initiative, but the problem is that many of our students do not have their own technologies or they are outdated and of bare minimum use.
