These items will provide my students with experience to promote language and fine motor skills. The manipulative and building items items will be utilized to promote social emotional learning and cooperative play. The presentation of these toys can be adapted to be used for children of varying abilities. Children will follow simple one step directs and advance to complex multi-step activities. We will work to individualize experiences with items to meet children at their current level and provide scaffolding to move them to the next. The felt board and pieces will be used during our large group times to present literacy experiences and help build the children vocabulary and language comprehension. Having a classroom fish tank will provide the children with learning experiences such as feeding and caring for the pets. Children will be able to watch the fish grow and fish tanks can provide calming sounds and sites for children with sensory processing issues. The fish tank will be a tangible way to bring science and nature into our classroom.
