Kindergarten is the ideal time to begin learning a second language! A Cornell Language study shows that learning a second language at a young age is beneficial for a child's mind. The study goes on to say that the earlier they learn, the more proficient they will be come as they are older. I have already seen my students learn so much in the past few months. Reading is fundamental in every language! My students are not learning to translate, they are learning Spanish, first hand, just like they learn English. Putting Spanish books in their little hands will teach the spelling of the words we are learning. They will see and read the words in sentences, strengthening their reading skills in both Spanish and English.
