I work in a Low SES area of a large city. My students have video games but not educational material in their homes. I am trying to educate their parents that school really can help to break the cycle of poverty. At least 92% are eligible for free or reduced lunch. At our school all students receive free breakfast and lunch so we know everyone receives at least two meals a day. A good portion of our students are refugees from other countries waiting and hoping they get to stay. The other portion of our school is either first or second generation American citizens. Their parents are very hard working but they don't always have the means to buy their children education material.
