I teach in a low poverty area in an inclusion classroom. We are a Title I school in which most of the students receive free or reduced price lunches. Although the students enter school with many strikes against them, most come to school each morning with big smiles on their faces, eager to learn. It is not uncommon to have students enter my classroom in the morning wearing the same outfit three days in a row or clothes that are dirty and do not fit them. No matter how many issues these students are dealing with, they still attend school every day. They come from rough backgrounds but want to be loved and to please the teachers.
