Students who attend our school are at-risk children of poverty who have a large probability of failing in school or in life because of their social and financial circumstances. Many of these kids live in environments that expose them to inadequate or inappropriate educational experiences. As a teacher, I am constantly trying to support their growth and development by identifying their strengths and weaknesses and addressing them in a positive way. Technology does just that for these kids. I have many students who do not complete assignments, do not study for tests, and do not come to school prepared to learn because of their home environment. Some of my students cause disruptions in class, not willing to interact with peers or cooperate in learning activities . Amazingly, when technology is incorporated these same kids are motivated to learn, more engaged and their attitudes about school are positively affected.
