My school brings a diverse group of students together. About half of my students come from a rural, country background - many of which bring hunting stories and photographs to show off during class. The rest of my students come from a nearby city, the combination of which adds a diversity of clothing, language, and music to my classroom. It's always great to see their differences be pushed aside during class activities and hallway interactions. I cannot think of my students without a smile on my face. They're complex and intelligent, hilarious and frustrating. As the year continues, I have the pleasure of getting to know my students as individuals - their passions, struggles, and stories. I know that math isn't always the first thing on their mind, but it's exciting to see them conquer difficult material and own a newfound confidence.
