The greatest joy of my students' day is play center time. This time is a vital part of Kindergarten! Dramatic and pretend play allows for student lead engagement, imagination, social interactions, conflict resolution, and language and vocabulary growth. A play kitchen is a perfect place for my students to put their imagination to work. Studies show that pretend play and language development have a direct correlation. Many of my students are English language learners and dramatic play provides them with opportunities to learn from their peers all while strengthening their language development. Our current kitchen is in desperate need of TLC. It is not very sturdy and doesn't provide adequate space for multiple children.
