My students come into my classroom day in and day out eager to learn, but just like adults sitting in a desk/chair the same way all day long can get exhausting, which then makes reading class something that makes my students less focused than it does proactive. They need more a table with stools for flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Students are able to bounce on an exercise ball, sit, stand, kneel, etc. We are working to build many options of seating in our classroom, and this project will provide us with another focused way to learn. Through research, I have seen fantastic results from classrooms with open seating options for their students. I know my students would benefit as well, and I can't wait to see their excitement, as well as engagement, increase with our new seating options.
