Flexible seating is very critical for students in elementary school. Using a variety of seating arrangements, such as yoga ball chairs, balance chairs, wobbly stools, and wobble cushions has proven to increase student engagement as well as academic progress. These different styles of seating allow students to release energy by moving quietly and without disrupting the class as well as learn at the same time. This can be especially helpful for students with ADHD. If we can not sit still for 8 hours with complete focus, how do we expect our students to? Physical activity has been proven to improve academic performance. Flexible seating allows for the physical activity needed during class time to help students. By offering flexible seating in my classroom, I am allowing my students the opportunity to increase their academic performance and become actively engaged and innovative learners. I have included clipboards in this donors choose as that gives my students the freedom to work in different spaces with their different seating. I am hoping to gain your support so that you can help make my classroom as functional and beneficial for my students as possible. Thank you for helping my fifth graders on their road to greatness!
