Our special education students have a variety of reading, math, and behavioral needs. We provide intensive individualized services throughout the day. Some of these intensive services could include research based programs like Lexia and Teachtown to empower students. We are requesting two Chromebooks which will help students access programs like Lexia and Teachtown, allow students to track their own data and empower them to work more independently. Lexia is geared towards reading and has been shown to increase students performance on MAP by 40 points annually when used consistently. Teachtown provides academic instruction across all subjects, but most importantly teaches key social skills like empathy, listening skills, and social emotional management. Most importantly these two programs allow students to track their own data in order to celebrate success and be aware of areas to keep working. They also allow for easy access for progress monitoring which in turn frees up special education staff to work directly with students. Data can then easily be shared with parents. Finally the missing link between implementing these programs is the lack of reliable technology. Please consider supporting our students growth by donating the Chromebooks requested.
