My students are from low income families and some are from families of displaced workers. Sending a backpack of food for families is a small piece of being an educator and caring for the needs of the students we work with on a daily basis. Students who feel they are being taken care of are willing to work harder and will learn better as their basic needs are met. Allowing them to take meals home for the weekends and bringing the bags back to be refilled for the next weekend is a way for us to assist in meeting one of their basic needs.

About my class
