I have been teaching in an inner city Title I elementary school for 24 years. My students come from diverse cultures including Latino, African, and Asian. I enjoy bringing world music into our studies as we enjoy each others heritage. I share my knowledge and training with other teachers. I have written district music curriculum and have also taught professional development workshops. I have served as guest choral director for all county chorus. I have served as mentor teacher for over fifteen years. This includes working with student interns and student teachers who are preparing for their teaching careers. I partner with our local Jefferson Center Music Lab, writing and recording our students' original songs and raps and perform them for the community. Teachers believe that all children can learn. I believe that all children can be musicians, learning to read, to write, to analyze, and to appreciate music .
