A love of reading is proven to help students in all areas of school. It is said that "readers become leaders." It is my hope to be that first step along the way to instilling a lifelong love of reading for our future leaders within my Kindergarten class. Kindergarten is the first stepping stone for literacy. Some students come to me with the basic skills to begin reading. Others have already started reading while others don't even recognize their own name. A strong classroom library will give my up and coming Kindergarteners a safe place to explore and grow. The individual books to be sent home with this year's students will give them pride in ownership and encourage them to keep reading.
