My students are curious thinkers! In my class, we study the past by reading, writing, debating, interpreting, and working to actively shape our own histories. My scholars are hungry for stories about the past to broaden their context of the world. With each new historical unit, the demand for fiction set during that time period spikes, and I want to be able to meet that demand and fuel their curiosity about the past. My students are passionate readers! My sixth grade scholars, though talented in so many ways, have been failed by their schools in the past. Many are behind, but they want to catch up. I see them getting excited about reading and asking for more books for our classroom library. I want them to have access to a large variety of entertaining texts. My students deserve the best, and the best schools have expansive libraries that draw all readers in. I'm determined to bring this into my classroom to continue to inspire students to reach for that good book.
