Flexible seating allows students to learn in ways that fit their needs. Sometimes kids just want to lay out straight on the floor or sit cross - legged to do their work. Sitting at a desk is not a requirement for learning! Reading a good book and getting into the “zone” calls for more than a hard straight back chair! Bean bags chairs are one alternative that I am eager to offer to my students. Having a rug also will make the area cozier and allow for more comfortable floor seating. I only wish that my classroom teachers had them when I was young!
