Flexible seating assists in elevating student engagement by giving students a choice to be in an environment that works best for them. I hope to redesign my classroom seating in a way that helps meet students' individual needs more, so that they are comfortable in their working environment. A child who is comfortable, is more focused and productive. At just 6 six years old, most children are fidgety, patiently waiting on their teacher to allow them to move around, instead of constantly sitting in a hardback chair all day. These bouncy chairs will allow my students to quietly move up and down, stimulating that sense of movement. This leads to more involvement in group discussions and active learning, which assists in the retention of material. My students will be able to freely move around the room, choosing where they think they would learn best during instructional time. Although the statistics on student engagement with flexible seating are mind blowing, let's be real... The best part about flexible seating is that it is FUN for students!
