I have the wonderful opportunity to serve a student body of various backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. In my choral classroom, students use the language of Kodaly solfege hand signs to read music. These students learn about teamwork, work ethic, and personal responsibility through rehearsals, performances, and state-wide competitions. In my piano classes, students are one-to-one with electronic keyboards, allowing me the ability to provide individual feedback for each student. We perform for each other in a friendly, encouraging environment, where students can perform, alone and with others, a variety of different music. All students have the opportunity to display their gifts and talents in different ways. Whether performing for an audience, working behind-the-scenes, or serving as a mentor for younger students, every young man or young woman has a place in this classroom.
