I am requesting laptops so my students can have a listening station. Our listening station would be situated in a quiet corner of the classroom where students would be able to sit on comfortable pillows and enjoy a book in a different way. Listening to books is particularly important for students who are below grade level and for ESL students, because it exposes them to literature that they may not have been able to read by themselves. Often times, students have a dislike of reading because it is too hard for them. By using a listening center during our literacy block, I am hoping to spark an interest in reading and develop a love of books in my students while exposing them to on grade level books in order to increase their vocabulary. This station will truly transform my students' lives, as it will change their outlook of reading forever by allowing them to read books in a fun, new way.
