Upon completing my first year in the classroom, I was able to identify what needs I had when it came to my classroom and materials that were necessary to help enhance the learning environment. One of the biggest needs I had was technology. We did not have functioning desktop computers, and access to laptops was very limited. My students were unable to access key digital programs that are used to help accelerate reading growth as well as access resources to research new topics that would help with learning and discovery. By providing my classroom with permanent laptops, students will never be without the resources they need in order to reach their full learning potential. With a "Time for Kids" subscription, I will be able to set up a workstation that will allow students to read about people who look like them, research topics that interest them, and deepen their love of reading. This is an invaluable resource in helping students discover the changing world around them, and I am excited to see them learn and grow will enjoying an educational magazine that I always enjoyed as a student! In addition to being great for student reading, I will utilize the "Time for Kids" subscription as a way to engage students in comprehension and writing in various workstation activities.
