Some of my students come to me with a love of reading, but then there are those that haven't caught the "reading bug" yet. That's okay, our job as teachers is to meet our students where they are and provide opportunities to make learning both exciting and fun. I want to use the Kindle Fire tablets as a center rotation and/or with small groups to reach my students that have a harder time with developing a love of reading. Students are so much more engaged when they're able to use technology. This is evidence to me that I need to update my reading center to enhance my reading instruction, while also providing a way for my struggling readers to use assistive technology that will not only hold their interest, but also provide for a scaffolded, more successful reading experience.
