My students are enthusiastic about songs and books. They are in a half day program and try to get in as much singing and reading as they can in 2 hours 45 minutes. We read and do songs as a whole group, but the children benefit from being able to do more reading of both books and songs during center time each day. For them to be able to choose the book they want to hear and not have to crowd around one copy of a book would be wonderful. Having individual cd players and headphones would cut down on behavior problems too. Not as likely to fight with someone when you're not tethered to them. The listening center might turn into a peaceful relaxing area of the room!
