With technology playing such a vital role in our society, I am incorporating iPads into my math and science classroom. Most of my students come from homes where there is little to no technology and frequently no internet. In this day and age, it is becoming an increasingly necessary skill for students to be able to use technology. This project would help give my students the same experiences that many other students see as a "normal" part of life. My students could strongly benefit from having iPads which would help provide support and real world examples in math and science. These examples will take the students beyond the walls of the classroom, leaving room for an unlimited amount of imagination, exploration and creativity. In math, the iPads will give students several avenues for mastering fact fluency and lots of math practice. The iPads will also be used during intervention time for students who may have a difficultly with concepts through out the year. For science, the students will be able to have better visual examples of topics as well as be able to conduct research and complete projects. Students will be able to use the iPads to access our school program, iReady. This program gives interventions that are tailored to each child's current mathematical abilities. Each student's online progress can then be used to better shape their small group interventions and help strengthen each students' math skills. Students who need no intervention are able to further strengthen their skills as well, making sure that all students benefit from the program.
