Being a first year teacher is so exciting and rewarding! However, it comes with a lot of responsibility and mindfulness in setting up the perfect classroom environment for the new kiddos who are about to start their first year of school. With this in mind, I have thought about the materials I do not yet have in my room that I think will be beneficial to my little learners. The tempera paint and paint brushes are excellent materials that Kindergarteners use often to create art and writing pieces. At the beginning of the school year, most Kindergarten students have limited knowledge about words and writing. Art and drawing acts as a strong base to encourage students to present stories and ideas. While students will be supplied with crayons and pencils, paint provides another type of material that can be used to express ideas. Reading is another important aspect of school and life that I want my students to find enjoyable. By having these requested Comfy Seats in our classroom library students will have a different atmosphere to read books, instead of just at their tables or on the rug. The Comfy Seats will provide a fun reading spot and make our classroom feel a bit more "homey" so that students feel safe and comfortable while they are at school. Finally, the clipboards allow students to be mobile throughout the classroom and still have a sturdy writing place to complete work.
