The differentiated seating options will help provide varying levels of sensory stimulus which will aid in accommodating the varying levels of stamina associated with an early learner. By accommodating these students in this manner, incidents of unwanted behaviors will decrease and an ability to maintain stamina in the educational instruction periods will be increased. Research shows that an early learner who is provided a variety of sensory experiences and who is not made to sit still for long periods of time is generally more successful in the academic setting. My goal is to set these students up for success in their academic future. Some of the items that will help assist with this include: wobble seats, stools in which they can wiggle their feet back and forth or stand if needed, balance disks to use in chairs or for standing, and circle markers to help the children recognize boundaries within whole group instruction.
