This is my first year teaching and I'm not ashamed to admit that our class library is a disaster. Many of the books I have were either donated or purchased from flea markets, which means they are currently being held together by countless amounts of packing tape. The book levels are all over the place, and many of my students resort to looking at the pictures because the books are too difficult for them to read. Some of my students come through my door unsure if they will eat that night, so academic resources are the last thing on their mind. These books will allow my students to blossom into the wonderful readers they are by growing their confidence after reading a book independently. The books will go into labeled Sterilite Bins (very durable) so that each student knows which books are on their level. This allows them to limit their search and easily be able to find books that not only interest them, but books that they can read without help!
