Choice is a major component to teaching and learning. Students choose who they will talk to, students choose how they will answer questions, and students choose to learn. I want to add another choice for my students by providing different seating options so that they can start learning how their bodies and brains work and what best suits them in their learning. This will help my students focus during independent work, stations, and carpet time. Students can choose to sit at tables using the balance balls or the stools. Many students at this age also love to work on the floor and the balance disks and soft seats will help students work and focus on the carpet. Allowing my students to take control of their own learning is a powerful tool for both my students and myself. The idea of choice builds self control and responsibly. My students will be able to show responsibility by choosing and utilizing these seating options. They will also grow academically by being able to focus and use their energy while learning. I love implementing choice into my classroom because I teach a classroom of 20 amazing and unique students. Not everyone’s the same and the same person is different from day to day. I can't wait to see the impact of these seating options in my classroom.
