I teach 32 first grade students that struggle to stay focused during lessons. Yet, I see the enthusiasm in their eyes to learn, which is the driving force of my passion. My students come from a variety of neighborhoods in the inner city. They love to read and to be read to--doesn't matter if they are using paper, digital, or audio books. I wholeheartedly desire to give them the materials and support they need to show a year and a half worth of growth in reading, writing, and math. I try to teach them their joyful interaction and focused attention is largely connected to their growth and success from 1st grade to college. 100% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. I work in a high-performing charter school where teachers are dedicated to providing the best support for their scholars regardless of what it takes. My students want to succeed and want to give us their best and I want to give them whatever I can to help my students succeed.
