As I am transitioning from a General Education teacher to a Special Education teacher, I was reflecting on how important literacy centers are to elementary students - no matter what type of classroom they are in. My students deserve to have all the opportunities needed in order to thrive as readers. I have been able to implement 4 of the 5 "Daily 5" centers - Read to Self, Read to Someone, Work Work and Work on Writing. Due to a lack of resources, I have not been able to implement Listen to Reading. I am hoping to purchase a Read Along Center from Lakeshore so students from all different reading levels can participate. In order to fully implement this, I will need a CD player, Read Along stories and various types of seating.
