My students need a way to engage in mathematics with high levels of motivation, intrigue, and conceptual knowledge. Students will begin with learning basic coding skills to create shapes while applying their knowledge of 7th-grade geometry and algebraic standards. These tessellations, geometric similarities, and linear patterns that students will create throughout the school year can then become tangible creations. Students will be able to transfer their mathematical creations onto shirts, water bottles, and any other item of their choice during several projects this coming school year. Students will transform their coding into tangible objects with the use of the Silhouette vinyl cutter and heat press. Giving these students the ability to create beauty out of mathematics is something that many of them have never experienced. This project is not only about the application and creation of 7th grade mathematics but the joy that many students have yet to discover. This project will not only give this class of students a new opportunity to discover the beauty of applied mathematics but many classes after them as well.
