The materials requested will assist in integrating movement into my current classroom environment as an assistive approach to teaching that can will be utilized as an intervention and inclusive approach to learning. By teaching through the universal language of movement, I can offer a chance for real success to children who may be caught in a spiral of academic failure. Students will use the balance balls and balance boards to strengthen their core, while focusing their movement to assist them in centering their attention on classroom instruction. The folding cycle and yoga stool will also be used to promote stationary and focused movement while learning. At the very least, kinesthetic teaching throws a lifeline to kinesthetic learners, who often can't sit still and are seen as disruptive or learning disabled. Allowing these students to become leaders can strengthen the learning community of the whole class. Using movement thoughtfully and purposefully throughout all content areas provides a valuable opportunity to create powerful learning experiences.
