Our students love hands-on learning! They need to feel and see what they are learning about. The tools we are requesting will provide us the opportunity for multi-sensory learning experiences. For example, the kinetic sand and water beads will be placed in special bins in the classroom along with objects we are learning about such as DINOSAURS! The students will be engaged to reach into the bin for the tactile experience, in order to find the items we are learning about. The scooter boards will be used with direct supervision, in order to promote improved motor skills and fun! With these new items, we will be able to incorporate more tactile and motor-related activities in all areas of learning! We will collaborate with other staff who also work with our students, such as adapted PE, speech, occupational and physical therapists, who will also use these materials with our students on a daily basis.
