I have requested funding for various sensory items that will greatly help my high school students. My students work hard every day to function in an outside world with which that they do not know how to communicate. Sensory items help students with autism cope with a difficult and over-stimulating world. A water table will help me engage them in some science skills and adaptive skills, such as washing, mixing, and measuring. The body sock and weighted blanket will help calm students who have had too much sensory stimulation. The tee-pee will serve as a quiet space for students, and the gel mazes make for a great sensory activity.
