With the students being in low income families, it is difficult for students to receive the support necessary at home. Most of these children experience traumatic home lives, come from single family homes, live in violent neighborhood, and some may have undiagnosed medical conditions due to the inability of transportation. What these resources do for my students is allow for them to be given a safe haven and be provided an opportunity they haven't been given in the past. That opportunity is the chance to have a champion standing in their corner consistently cheering them on! Instead of -18 it's always +2 in my eyes!
