Were you lucky enough to receive Scholastic magazines monthly when you were a grade school student? I remember those days. Reading the interesting articles about the astronauts (or lions, anatomy, molecules, etc.) and learning fun facts about science that was happening in the moment. I loved the close-up colored pictures and the graphics that represented data in different ways. Scholastic Days were such a treat -- especially if you were the lucky person who got to take home that monthly issue of the magazine as we only had one issue to share between two students. Scholastic Magazines are better than ever! With your support, every 4th grader to whom I teach math and science to will be able to have their own copy, learning from it as we use it together in whole group, small group and independent learning activities, and then take it home -- spreading the excitement with their families. SuperScience, the 3rd-5th grade periodical includes what I remember as a kid -- and more! Articles are written at two different reading levels, which students can access through technology. The subscription also includes videos that supplement the articles and enhance learning in ways not possible through text only. Hands-on experiments are included, too, which students can do in small groups and which use everyday materials which they can then recreate at their homes. The Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math of STEAM are covered in fun and interesting ways, including spotlights on careers in these fields to expand the horizons of my young learners. Thank you for supporting this yearlong project with my students and making a strong, positive impact in their learning experience.
