I am lucky to be able to provide instruments from the school for all of my students so that everyone can participate regardless of socioeconomic status or financial limitations. While they have their instrument and their music, my students are lacking a proper way to display their music when practicing and taking their weekly lessons. Students often read their music from their iPads or Chromebooks, and don't have a way to display their paper music so they can see it, see me, and also sit with good posture. Music stands would make a huge difference in their lives as both musicians and students. Folding music stands will allow students to practice their band music with good posture and proper playing position while at home and in the future at school. When we go back to school in a hybrid model, the stands will be brought to school to practice and enforce COVID-safe precautions in small-group lessons and full band. This will positively impact their music education by making at-home practice time more effective. This project will give them the proper tool to help them become the best young musicians they can be! We have just started working on our music for the spring concert, which could be many combinations of in-person and virtual performing as of right now. Until we are allowed back in the building, these music stands will help students prepare for that full band experience. This will create for an easier transition to in-person instruction, and a safe and successful spring concert. I can't wait to make music with my amazing students in-person and show off their hard work to their friends and families (and donors!). Thank you for helping my amazing musicians!
