Renewable energy is typically a hard concept for students to grasp. They struggle with understanding how the energy is harvested, how the energy can be used, and what is the best energy source to use for a particular environment. I have students investigate with readings and videos, but they are missing the hands-on component. I am requesting eight different alternative energy kits to help my students gain a better understanding of alternative energy sources. By having eight kits I will be able to place my students in groups of 4-5 and ensure that each one has a hands-on experience. With these kits we will study geothermal energy, wind energy, solar energy, and hydro energy. Students will discuss the pros and cons of each source and determine which source would be most beneficial under set circumstances. The best part is that these kits will be used year after year, reaching 100's of students! Please help me bring renewable energy to life for my students!
