Rekenreks are beneficial and effective manipulatives for first grades. Especially with the content they have to learn. It helps them to truly understand the number ten! They then can use their knowledge about ten to figure out MANY other problems. Students are able to manipulate and move the beans to show different numbers. The beans are also color coded to show ten! Especially great for those that struggle in math! The understanding of the number ten is specially important for students. These rekenreks will help students learn and FULLY understand ten, which is something they will need in order to set them up for success in the future!
