As a Title I middle school, we have very limited funds to use for science projects. Children are naturally curious, and it has been my goal to provide fun and engaging projects. Students become eager to engage when their assignment looks fun and interesting. In every unit that we cover, I find ways to connect science to their real-world experiences. From singing silly songs to memorize tectonic plates with costumes to making playdough for their own 3-D watershed maps, I encourage science with imagination. Due to the unavailability of in-person field trips since Covid-19 presented, students everywhere have missed out on so many fun adventures. I would like to bring field trips back by providing Virtual Reality field trips! They can connect with incredible scientific sights and sounds that hopefully will encourage them to continue their science exploration throughout their school years, and to treasure for a lifetime!
