My students come from challenging situations. Many of them are challenged with academic and emotional disabilities. Some have faced childhood trauma that affects the way they see the world and the way in which they learn. These challenges often manifest as difficult behaviors. We are a classroom within a neighborhood school where we help these children learn the skills they need to successfully reintegrate with their peer group. My students often experience social anxiety and their bodies move in an effort to manage their stress making them appear "different" in the regular classroom.
