As an adult, we are often expected to sit in a rather uncomfortable chair throughout our work day. I know that at least for me, I would rather be working on the floor, in a beanbag or in another more comfortable option. I feel like I could be more productive when I feel comfortable in my workspace. Why should I expect my students to all do their best work in hard, plastic chairs? I want to give them choices so that each day they can come to school knowing that they will have options of where they want to sit. I already use some exercise balls as seats in my room. They have not only been a big hit with the kids but I can see the difference that they make for some of my students in being able to focus for longer periods of time and produce better work.
