I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade resource (ELA and math). My students are typical middle schoolers- some short, some have to duck to get through the door, there's drama and hormones, sometimes they're lively and sometimes I'm lucky to get a grunt out of them. Many of my students are considered "behavior problems," some put in only the minimum amount of effort needed to pass (even by a sliver of a point), and most of them lack motivation to succeed in school. Now add a learning disability and ADHD. Yup, those are my kids. My students are also bright. They're kind and loving when you take the time to get to know them. They have dreams and aspirations for their future. They desire to learn and even the toughest kid will light up when he realizes he has mastered a new skill.
