For the final period of each school day, we meet in a class called Study Skills. I have structured our time together with a student-centered, inquiry-based style. I am there as a facilitator, a learning coach. I encourage independence, autonomy, and hands on learning while remaining a safe environment to ask me or their peers for help as needed. Our first project is to identify our unique blend of learning styles and specific tools for increasing focus and organization while learning core academic content. These tools will provide students a way to keep their bodies busy and increase retention while they take in new material as well as teach them how to organize their time and set productive, attainable goals. Your support has the potential to change lives by creating a framework designed for students to first learn HOW their own minds work best and motivating them to be fearless learners and productive young adults. A student with the ability to identify their own needs and create an environment that they KNOW sets them up for successful learning is a student who is motivated, capable of asking for exactly what they require to learn best, and is ready to learn.
