Many problems in upper level mathematics require at the minimum a scientific calculator. With a set of 75 scientific calculators I will have enough for students to use daily in the classroom and will also be able to allow those students who do not own one to take them home to use and complete their work. My students are very dedicated. To meet their needs currently I come in early and stay late after school to keep my room open so they can come in and use the few calculators I have to get their work done. Having a class set and allowing students to even bring them home means my students will be less stressed, get more sleep, and have much higher completion rates on their work. The sharing of calculators we must currently do inhibits what they are able to accomplish in the classroom. These calculators will allow my students to tackle larger and more complex math problems, which will prepare them for college-level work. I also coach the Math Academic team here at the school and these are the only calculators that are allowed during competition. Using them more often and being more familiar with their functions will help my already winning team be even more successful and confident.
