My students use four computer programs that require them to listen and repeat. Last year, poor quality headphones, without microphones, were fairly soon rendered useless. This resulted in many haphazard runs to the dollar store, to find one out ten earbud actually worked. Never mind that seeing students stoop to the microphone, or lift the laptop in order to speak was not the most welcome sight. Most students prefer over-the-ear headphones, because of comfort, and loss of signal. That these requested items also include a microphone should make listening and speaking a smoother activity. The programs test students' phonics, reading comprehension, elocution, and fluency. Also, some students have accommodations that require they speak rather than write. These headphones will be useful tools for the entire class.
