Most of my students don't have the luxury of traveling due to their family's financial constraints. Travel and culture provide opportunities to explore other worlds and add to their vocabulary. Books offer an excellent opportunity to bring the rest of the world into their hands and will foster their curiosity (and hopefully love) to learn about other places and people. I want to set them up to be accepting of others and be a positive part of a global society. I want my students to be explorers of the world around them! Bean bag chairs and clipboards will pamper their "travel experiences" in our classroom as they read and write about the places and people they've "visited".
